GLASS HAIR + GLASS SKIN

GLASS HAIR + GLASS SKIN

I am sure if you have been anywhere near Instagram lately, you have heard of "Glass Hair" and "Glass Skin".  I just wrote an entire lengthy post that would have explained in detail how to achieve this, but somehow it deleted itself and I took that as a sign to spare you the wordiness and give you the basics on how to achieve both trends.  Glass hair is a sleek, shiny, reflective blunt cut.  The hair is one length all the way around with no layering.  Glass skin is a dewy, translucent looking makeup trend with a subtle glow.  VERY minimal contouring and highlight-your skin looks more like the appearance of porcelain.

Glass Skin:  Double cleanse!  Use a cleansing oil before actually washing with a foaming cleanser.  I explained this in a previous post on how to do it.  I also like to use my Foreo with my foam or gel cleanser.  When your skin is nice and clean, spray your face with an essence or apply your toner (Natura Bisse Diamond Mist, Kypris Antioxidant Dew).  Then I apply my eye cream, then serum (sometimes I use a few serums) and then my moisturizer.  Not just any moisturizer-for glass skin it is important to use one that is more "balmy".  The kinds that you have to warm up in your hands and then press in your skin are key (La Mer, Fresh Creme Ancienne, Natura Bisse Essential Shock or Diamond Extreme).  Now your skin is prepped and good to go!  In applying your makeup, follow the steps I used in my previous LOTD post.  LIGHT on the highlight.  VERY LIGHT.  And try and use one that looks more pearlescent and shimmer instead of glittery and bronzy.  Finish this look with a setting spray or spray toner/essence.

Glass Hair:  Clean, blunt cut, all one length hair.  Use a shine oil before drying.  After drying, use a silicone strip flat iron.  The strips create a sleek, smooth, shiny, glassy look and leaves no fly aways behind.  Try and slightly angle the iron under to go toward your neck.  After your hair is bone straight with a slight curl under, lightly apply hairspray.  Then a shine mist-voila-you are glassy.

I am still accepting clients and would be delighted to give you glass hair or glass skin. I would love to recommend the right styling tools and products for you as well.  For a consultation, please email courtney@courtneyhulet.com to schedule an appointment.

If you would like me to do a how to video, please let me know.  I am working on setting up a studio and would love any video or post ideas you have for me.  Thank you for reading!
