How I Went from Dark Brunette to Icy Blonde/Surface Awaken Update

11/2/20-The Blonde Returns

If only it were as easy as that picture above…that is basically the step by step of how the icing went down, but I think I toned my natural hair with multiple different toners continuously that week and have highlighted my hair with bleach the last 3 Mondays since going back to blonde-but you’d never know, because what you primarily see is the hair extensions. Ginger fire red can easily blend into ombre’d blonde with a little Batiste Deep Brunette Dry Shampoo…

I FINALLY have achieved satisfaction with my natural hair. I think, just like all blondes, it will require some regular upkeep and toning, but I am pleased-AND I kept my hair! Reminder to all, I have a cosmetology license and have the industry’s best products at my disposal. If you are a stylist and would like the exact breakdown and formula on how this was achieved, hit me up-that brunette was a level 3 and the blonde is a 12:) Go Hawks.

That sequence photo was all actually taken on November 2nd, 2020. When it comes to my hair, especially when blonde, I expect perfection-because I do my own, I don’t want some experienced stylist scoping out my errors.

As for the length and volume, one set of 22 inch hair extensions was not going to work…I found this fantastic hair store (B&I-NEVER AGAIN) in Kent called the Hair Shop Northwest earlier this year for my brunette and first set of blonde 22s and went back for a second, shorter set. I found a little bit darker blonde and now have created the perfect look for me. What I wear on a daily basis (when in glam at least) is a blend of 22 and 18 inch hair extensions-two different colors, very similar, but the 18s are a bit darker to blend with my darker hair. Wearing extensions allows me to take my hair off every night and continue treating my scalp with the Surface Awaken kit.

I never want to go back to “permanent” hair extensions on my head-I plan on growing my own and filling it out with my clips-I now have three sets technically (dark brown and two blondes).

If you are local, I’d love to help you. If not, I highly recommend doing something glamorous for yourself. 2020 has been a rough year-I stopped wearing hair and makeup all together and found that I feel the best in full glam. It was important for me to go through what I did because I was able to be comfortable without it all-hence why I am including photos of non-glam me in this post. In the end, hair extensions are the answer. My natural hair is fine and thin and easy to blend. The End!
