Drunk Elephant Sweet Biome Fermented Sake Spray Review
Thanks to Influenster, I was sent another great product to review! I had always heard of Drunk Elephant skincare but had never tried it, so when they sent me the Sweet Biome Fermented Sake Spray to review right before Christmas, I was stoked.
I love a good spray toner right after I wash my face. At first use, you notice the smell of the fermented sake. The mist is so fine that you hardly even feel it touch your face! I got used to the smell knowing of the benefits that will outweigh the odor.
The use of fermented sake is to restore and rebalance your skin. On Drunk Elephant’s website, the description is this “With amino and fatty acids, electrolytes, and ceramides, Sweet Biome supports and replenishes a healthy microbiome while mimicking the components that keep your acid mantle strong, soothed, and balanced.”
The ingredients include fermented sake extract, kombucha (hence the smell), and hops; creating a “boozy biome builder”. If you don’t know what your biome or microbiome is, it is the surface of your skin. Whether we like it or not, bacteria is everywhere and just as for the digestive system, we need probiotics for the skin as well. The use of this product can help encourage the skin to maintain a proper good bacterial balance so that it can easily fight off free radicals such as pollution and grossness floating around in the atmosphere.
In the 3 weeks I have been using this product, I have noticed an improvement in my skin with moisture retention and luminosity. I also noticed a reduction in the redness/rosacea I have on my nose and cheeks. I will most likely repurchase this item again-I love a fine mist :)
